Services

Mental Health & Addictions Services (MHAS) provide acute inpatient, transitional day treatment and follow-up outpatient mental health care for children, youth and adults, in both urban and rural settings. It also provides a wide range or treatment options for adolescents and adults with addictions. Mental health promotion and education programs, and programs for prevention of substance abuse, are available for the public and human services professionals. Mental Health and Addictions services are publicly funded, in addition the Five Hills Health Region, Mental Health and Addictions Services funds three health care organizations which provide valuable programs and services in the community.

Five Hills Health Region service data shows that Mental Health and Addictions services do prioritize the highest needs in the population, depression and substance abuse. However, a service gap assessment suggests that this focus may not fully match the extent of the burden of illness of these conditions in the population. Recent innovative initiatives and changes to Mental Health and Addictions create a system that is:

  • Client Centred
  • Evidence based
  • Integrated
  • Accountable
  • Efficient
  • Focused on serious mental illness
  • Compassionate
