Psychiatric Services

Consultant Psychiatrists provide a variety of psychiatric services, including assessments, medication management, counseling, 24 hour On-call services, referrals from the Emergency Department, physicians, legal/justice systems and other community sources. Psychiatrists also provide assessments, advice and liaison services provision to the intake system for clients who require urgent assessment and treatment. Consultant provides a daily outpatient service and also admits clients to the Inpatient Unit for diagnostic assessment and treatment. Psychiatrists have special interests in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psycho geriatrics, Early Psychosis Intervention, Rehabilitation and Addictions services. There are regular community visits to long-term care facilities in Moose Jaw for elderly clients with psychiatric problem.

More specialist advice in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is sought through teleconferences with specialists in Regina when required. Psychiatrists arrange family conferences for clients where appropriate (both outpatient and inpatient). They also have regular meetings with Community Mental Health Nurses to review clients who live in the community. Psychiatrists liaise with other agencies and/or organizations who are involved in the community with client care in order to provide consultation advice.
